Storage Turnpike Lane Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Turnpike Lane in respect of its financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Modern slavery can take many forms, including forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, child labour, bonded labour and other forms of exploitation. Storage Turnpike Lane is determined that such practices have no place in our business or among those who supply goods and services to us.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Turnpike Lane operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with, support, or do business with any individual or organisation involved in any form of modern slavery. This commitment applies to our own operations, to all staff working on our behalf, and to every level of our supply chain.
All colleagues, whether permanent, temporary, or contracted, are expected to uphold this policy and to act in a manner consistent with our values of respect, integrity and accountability. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by a supplier or contractor may result in the termination of our relationship.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of goods, services, maintenance, facilities management, and professional advice that support the operation of our storage facility. We recognise that certain sectors and geographies may present higher risks of modern slavery and we pay particular attention to these in our due diligence.
We conduct proportionate risk-based assessments of existing and new suppliers. Where appropriate, we seek assurances through questionnaires, declarations, and contractual commitments that suppliers comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation and do not tolerate modern slavery in their own operations or supply chains.
Storage Turnpike Lane reserves the right to conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers to demonstrate compliance with our standards, including but not limited to records relating to employment practices, recruitment processes, working hours, and remuneration. Where we identify concerns, we will work with the supplier to address them within a reasonable timeframe. If satisfactory improvements are not made, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Speaking Up
We encourage anyone working for or with Storage Turnpike Lane, as well as customers and members of the public, to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with a manager or senior member of staff at our site, or through any internal reporting mechanism communicated to staff.
All reports will be taken seriously and handled sensitively. Wherever possible and appropriate, we will respect the confidentiality of those who raise concerns in good faith and will not tolerate any form of retaliation against anyone who reports a concern or assists in an investigation.
We will investigate any allegation of modern slavery promptly and, where necessary, take immediate steps to safeguard individuals, notify relevant authorities, and review our relationship with any implicated supplier or contractor.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
Storage Turnpike Lane is committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and relevant contractors. We aim to provide guidance so that colleagues understand the signs of modern slavery, know how to raise concerns, and are aware of the expectations we place on suppliers.
We strive to improve our processes over time by reviewing industry guidance, evolving legislation, and best practice standards. As our business and supply chains develop, we will continue to refine our risk assessments, due diligence activities, and supplier engagement to strengthen our prevention efforts.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. The review will consider any incidents reported, the effectiveness of our controls, the outcomes of supplier audits, and feedback from stakeholders.
Following each review, we will update this statement where necessary and communicate any significant changes to relevant stakeholders, including employees and key suppliers. This statement has been approved on behalf of Storage Turnpike Lane and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the relevant financial year.
